SONDRA SHERMAN

Sondra Sherman received her BFA from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA., and then studied under Herman Junger at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, receiving her diploma in 1990. In 2000 Sondra's work was included in the exhibition, Five Women in Craft at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Museum. In 2001 she received the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award for emerging artists. Her work has been featured in various publications including the books One of a Kind: American Art Jewelry Today, and Jewelry in Europe + America: New Times, New Thinking. It has been exhibited extensively at galleries and museums throughout the US and abroad including the Museum of Art and Design, New York; Crafts Council Gallery, London; and the Stadtmuseum Munchen, Germany. Sondra's work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston; Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; RISD Museum, Providence, RI and the City Museum, Turnov, Czech Republic among others. She is currently associate professor at San Diego State University.
